I am using this script in conjunction with a bunch of Victor Engine scripts and Yanfly Engine Ace scripts, and I’ve set up 24 skills to be obtainable as a Blue Mage.
However, two of the skills will not transfer to the Blue Mage when used on him. Other skills which are set up exactly the same are learned without a problem.
I have started a new save file and the problem persists. I have no idea what is causing this to happen, since this script is such a short one and I don’t see any references in it to specific skills other than the array that I set up to recognize the skills to learn.
I don’t know what could be causing it. I suggest you have another look and just make sure the two skills are set up properly.
On further inspection, it looks like the skills are required to cause damage in some way to be learnable skills. The two skills in question only inflict states on the target.
If I need to, I will just change them to deal a small amount of damage, but it might be worth a look for a future patch.
Ah it’s because I add the skill when it makes the damage value. I’ll update the script later.
Awesome, thank you. =)
Another thing to think about: healing spells. Since enemies won’t use them on your blue mage or party members, they won’t be obtainable unless you were to add some sort of flag to learn the spell some other way (i.e. by witnessing it instead of being hit with it). I guess that would be easily accomplished by adding a notetag to the skill, like or something along those lines.
Some of FF6′s Lores were obtainable just by seeing them in battle (as long as Strago was alive), IIRC.
Is there any way to make it so the skills only have a percentage chance to be learned, and to have those percentages different between skills?
ie:
“Shadow Flare” has a 5% chance of being learnt.
“1000 Needles” has a 10% chance of being learnt.
No that is not a feature of the current script.
I also like this idea, it would make blue mages a little less over powered.
maybe is a tag on the skill like:
